Why Worlds Unread exists

Some books vanish because they were bad. Others disappear because translation never happened.

Worlds Unread looks for the second kind: books with strong stories, distinctive voices or clear commercial appeal that succeeded, mattered or simply deserved attention in another language but never properly entered the English-reading market.

What we publish

The list is intentionally broad. Historical crime, thrillers, suspense, adventure, memoir, unusual non-fiction and other compelling works can all belong here. The common thread is not genre. It is the gap: a book that should have crossed into English, but did not.

How we work

Each project begins with source verification and rights/public-domain research. The translation is then checked against the original, edited into natural English, and presented with enough context to make the book accessible without burying it under academic apparatus.

The promise

A Worlds Unread edition should feel like a genuine discovery, not a facsimile, curiosity or generic public-domain reprint. The aim is simple: find the missing books, translate them properly, and put them back into circulation for readers.
